Participate actively in your immediate environment - State JONAPWD Chairman

The Chairman Anambra State Joint National Association of Persons with Physical Disabilities (JONAPWD), Comrade Ugochukwu Ernest Okeke has urged women living with physical disabilities to participate very active in their immediate environment.
Mr Ugochukwu Okeke made this call during the inauguration occasion of the Association of Anambra State Women with Disabilities (AASWOWD) held on 1st July 2022 at St Matthew's catholic church Amawbia.
The JONAPWD Chairman charged women with disabilities to engage themselves positively so that they can live a valued life. " I want to encourage you women to stop shying away from participating actively wherever you find yourself, stop writing yourself off. So many of you have written themselves off thinking that because they are deaf, visually impaired or physically challenged that they are nobody he said".
He further advised them not to make themselves nonentity rather they should all go and learn a skill. Stressing that when they acquire a skill they will live independently and also add value to their lives.
Mr Okeke further charged the JONAPWD women wing to engage themselves in so many activities that will empower their members and make them to live a meaningful life.
"That is why we are inaugurating you today so that you can live a meaningful life. Speak with one voice, conduct an assessment on what they need to do for survival," he advised. Still speaking, he advised the members to take the new association very serious and be active. "I want you to take ownership of this association. Make it your priority because you will benefit a lot from it" he urged.
The Chairman Civil Society Organizations(CSOs) Prince Chris Azo represented by Iyom Tina Igbansi their deputy chairperson, commended the brains behind the inauguration. Iyom advised women with disabilities to always believe in themselves and not to feel intimidated or depressed because of their physical conditions. "Tell yourself you are human, trust yourself, I can do whatever I want to do" , she noted.
She also advised the members of the organization to be loyal to their executives so that the administration will move swiftly, and then prayed that the organization will be progressive.
The Director Rehabilitation Department, ministry of Women and social welfare represented by Miss Anurika also advised them to get a skill as the economy is not favorable at all. She further encouraged them to participate actively in the group as that is the best avenue to reach the government easily.
The Chairman Anambra State Disability Right Commission Barr Chucks Ezewuzie represented by Mrs Eucharia Anaekwe congratulated JONAPWD for accomplishment of this project. Mrs Anaekwe enlightened them on gender-based violence. She encouraged them to speak out or rather do what will make the culprit to voice out so that he can be identified. Also report such cases to Disability Right Commission so that they can take proper actions.
The chairperson JONAPWD women wing Comrade Nwanokwara Ncheta expressed her gratitude to the state JONAPWD Chairman, Mr Ugochukwu Okeke there present, Director women Affairs, Chairmen Civil Service Organizations and Disability Right Commission through their representatives respectively for their output towards the success of the event. She expressed her happiness towards the success of the event. "We are very happy for being here today, we are very happy for seeing this day a reality" she noted.
